http://www.free-hotspot.com invented WifiAds years ago… it does not use Broadband from particulars nor is it interested in providing wifi on non-public places

I guess that in the ever-evolving globalized world of tech companies, the most important is not who has the idea first, but who is able to get more out of it.

Jos/Euronerd,
Fon is extremely happy with the results of the WiFi ads campaign so far, but the truth is that we are happy because these ads are making us grow the Fon movement. To be fair we have no experience yet advertising for others.

Martin,
Why not ask from your sponsor Google who invented Adwords?
Perhaps they should use eg their Youtube acquisition to broadcast on all your Fon hotspots?
or use your Joost investment? perhaps some Bill hotspots have a wireless computer terminal as well?

Martin,
One essential difference with the FON Ads model, is that the hotspots are provided by companies, not by private persons (yes, private, unless a Bill is in FON’s view a franchise. In which case FON could spend some effort to make that clear to the Foneros).
An other difference may be the interactive nature of the Ads, that guarantees the ad is viewed and, on a certain level, understood. More attractive for business, but the client also must have a better incentive (hours of Internet) to accept this.
So, the model is slightly different. Any plans to adapt to this?
