Seems to me like quite a expensive solution to the problem of “Everywhere WiFi” or does your employee’s ISP offer an affordable data flat rate? A probable future FON:product could be a router with a Smart card/SIM interface as well as a GSM/HSDPA/GPRS/UMTS unit in order to provide am easy “One Box System” for setting up a wireless Internet gateway nearly everywhere – as long as any mobile phone service is in range. I know, this is only a very simple idea of a product which will be probably never developed. And as far as I can see no one of the mobile ISPs will set up data flat rates which can be (mis)used this way because they could not earn anything with it. The main problem of FON in the next years will be lawsuits against it’s community members by ISPs who see FON as one of their hugest competitors in future (I think of T-Com aka. T-Mobile here in Germany for example). Solving the ISP problem – perhaps even worldwide – will be the biggest To-Do for you and your employees, I guess.

It would be so totally awesome if you could simplify and somehow just run FON in Windows.

Really enjoy your videos from these places you visit.

Hehe, I remember when we installed a router and a EvDo CDMA modem in a car, labeling it with “Get free WiFi in range of this car, with c*free”! It was so much fun having people follow it. It’s such a geeky concept, but oh so cool too!

There are ISPs which allow and encourage Fon. At Fondoo.net we offer ADSL connections to the UK for Foneros. We don’t have a mobile ISP service though.
@2 Windows is not more simple than Linux!

Agreed Henrik,

It´s not ideal, but FON could limit the uses of this connection or limit the bandwidth per FONero, so the FONero with a mobile plan of 1GB which is what they have does not have to pay extra in his bill.
