Prof.Murai’s speech (in Japanese)

ITU is one of the biggest telecommunications conference in the world and this year was held in Hong Kong.

It is amazing how much support we got from people and FONeros in Taiwan. After the tremendous success we had a few days ago launching FON in Japan and a few weeks ago FON in HK, I can say that FON will become a big success in ASEAN.

And here a few pictures from the party we had after the presentation that I took and some YK Lin sent me.

C. J. Cherng CEO of Seednet explains why his company teamed up with FON.

“FON” ranked as the Nº 1 hottest keyword at Technorati Japan today. FON even ranked on the top of Nintendo Wii, which was just released a few days ago.

We again thank the FON team Japan who put together such a fantastic party in Tokyo.

The Japan launch went amazingly well. We will probably get 50,000 unique visitors to our site between last night and tonight. We already had 15K this morning and we have over 18K right now and it´s only 4pm here.

Demand for Foneras in Japan exploded. Japan is ordering Foneras at the highest rate ever in FON (short) history. We will probably have 4000 access points ordered between 11am when we opened our shop and the end of the day. This will be the highest amount of ordered access point in 24 hours in any country ever. We have around 3000 so far today.

Here some pictures I took in Japan

I just finished our press conference in Tokyo. It was extremely well attended, around 50 journalists. There was tremendous interest in FON. While I don´t know how many FONeros we will get in Japan my guess is that we will probably have over 5000 in the next 10 days. That will give us good coverage to start with.

I especially want to thank Digital Garage, Excite and Joichi Ito, as well as Junichi Fujimoto, Nina Nikkhou, Nina Wiegand and Alex for all their hard work and preparation.
