While we intended our numero uno birthday free fonera givaway campaign to be for the USA only, we decided to ship to Canada and the UK as well. So Canada and the UK are part of the birthday celebration campaigns!
Bienvenidos Foneros canadienses e ingleses! So now if you are a resident of USA, Canada and UK click here to get your free Fonera while limited supplies last.

Nice change of heart from always ignoring Canada! Anyway, which ISP in Canada (or the US) allows me to share my bandwidth? Do you have agreements with any? Last I heard it was not allowed.

Gaetan,
We were not ignoring Canada. It took us a while to get the approvals there. Indeed, I built a small biotech company in Canada in the late 80s, Medicorp Sciences and I used to spend a lot of time in Montreal and loved it.

Hi,
We have problem with the invitations.. http://boards.fon.com/viewtopic.php?t=2642
We can not send invitations and we are waiting for news about that. Your support doesn’t answer and seems like nobody cares about this problem…
Martin Varsavsky on February 7, 2007 ·
Tiberio,
There’s been a problem, you are right. But now is solved. Thank you for telling us.
tiberiofonero on February 7, 2007 ·
ok that is fine:) but a friend of mine activated his fonera yesterday and i didn’t get new invitation.. 🙁
Does it work sure? I lost the chance to get more invitations?

Hey Martin, glad to see you’re actually part of the FON support call centre team rather than playing golf with Niklas!!

Hi Martin,
Why only in those countries? I am living in Belgium, and I, too, would like to join FON if it were free. As Belgium is not only the country with almost the highest ratio of inhabitants/area, but is also one the places with the highest proportion of people with broadband internet connection (thus good coverage), it would make a lot of sense to include it in the promotion. Furthermore, we have EU here, and countless tourists, meaning a lot of potential aliens. So I really do not see why you would want to exclude Belgium from this opportunity.
Greetings,
Greg

Greg,
We have been going on a country by country basis. We will see what we can do in Belgium.
Do you know who the top Belgium bloggers are if we want to do a FONero promise there?
Steve on February 8, 2007 ·
So…you are openly asking bloggers to shill your stuff, like Om Malik just did? The blogosphere really sucks…
Greg on February 8, 2007 ·
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the prompt and positive answer, it sounds promissing!
Just two places to start with for Belgian bloggers:
Skynet’s (biggest ISP in Belgium) most popular blogs: http://blogs.skynet.be/index.html?l1=communication&l2=blogs&l3=top (both in Dutch and French)
Seniornet (a popular network for the ‘young in spirit’ but also frequented by many young not only in spirit) http://blog.seniorennet.be/
And a collection of popular Belgian bloggers: http://www.linknet.be/index.php?page=blogs
Kind regards,
Greg
PS and just two links to Dutch blogs that promote La Fonera: http://hansb.blogspot.com/2006/11/doe-de-fon.html

Steve,
Om Malik was negative on FON when we were using Linksys, then he loved La Fonera and agreed to tell about our campaign, because he likes FON and he thinks FON is good for his readers.
Bloggers live off their reputation and would not blog something that they don´t believe in. Also we have no financial arrangement with Om Malik

J,
That is because you have javascript turned off in his browser. Please go to our HELP section http://en.fon.com/support/support and type the question “I can not register in the FON Website”. There you will find help on how to turn javascript on.
Martin Varsavsky on February 9, 2007 ·
Greg, pls contact them. If they are interested in announcing the campaign, we will do it.

Thanks guys, I have just got mine and told all my friends over here in the UK about them. It’s going to be an exciting year for fon, I can’t wait to hear the outcome of your talks with BT 🙂
