My Activity as an Angel Investor
Published by MartinVarsavsky.net in Other Projects with No Comments
Here are the companies that I have invested over the last 2 years as an angel investor. Wikio, Plazes, Netvibes, Technorati, Vpod and last week, Moneytrackin, started as a project by two FON employees.
Why do I make these investments? Mostly because the entrepreneurs who run them are friends who I trust, because I believe in the markets or needs they address and because of reasonable valuations.

Every entrepreneur invests in people and businesses they know and trust, and figures that they can work with so yours is a wise and widely accepted approach.
Even corporate investors adopt the same policies — even if the due diligence is even more extensive.
In film, there are what are called “vanity investors” who invest without knowing the production process and end up losing all their investments, so “vanity seeding” is never advisable.
For the serious entrepreneurs seeking investors, they tend to approach people with proven track records rather than the man in the pub.
There are established VCs connected to the Top 50 seed investors in Europe.
That’s my primary route. It works.

But would you be interested in investing in India? Just a little over say, USD 10 – 20k for a very interesting and novel project? Of course, this would only be the seed funding required… If you are further interested, you could email me and I could let you know what’s it all about…

Hi there let me explain my situation from the beginning and hopefully someone can help.My names Ben i live in the UK I’ve just terned 22 I’ve recently left the armed forces after completing four years. I’ve completed two back to back tours of Iraq on the front line.I’m now in the middle of setting up my own charity raising funds for injured troops my charity will also be involved in housing lads and helping them financially when they leave the forces. I’m extremely passionate about my charity and theres no way my charity is going to fail i received a call of one of my close friends a few weeks ago to tell me that one of our lads had took his own life. I think society believe if you haven’t been physically injured then your okay this really is not the case mental illnesses are just as bad if not worse.Anyway I’ve tried approaching loan firms but because i haven’t got a credit score they wont give me the time of day. I’ve also made the mistake of paying fees to con men on the Internet anyway I’ve got a great team in place but i need an investor or private loan lender to lend us the sum of £20 000 to be fully operational this will enable us to become registered as well as buying are charity merchandise and paying solicitor fees. All funds will be paid back no later then 6 months of us receiving it with interest. If you feel you know anyone who may be able to help please contact me asap thanks and take care.

Mr Varsavsky,
We are a group in the southern Spain who are looking for investors. We have acquired the rights for an American franchise restaurant, that would work very well on the touristified costa del sol in Malaga Spain. We have a full Business plan, and have done research and planning for the last year. we are now in the situation were we are ready to build the first restaurant, and was curious if this is something that might interest you or anyone you might know.
Best regards
