The Redberry approach to Catholicism
Published by MartinVarsavsky.net in General with No Comments
Last month I blogged about how the Blackberry became the Redberry in China. Basically what I said is that China Unicom decided that instead of making a deal with RIM, the company behind the Blackberry it would simply copy the Blackberry but make it more Chinese and launch the RedBerry. So what is the RedBerry? It´s a push e mail device that with Chinese servers and Chinese controls included that pays no royalties to RIM nor accepts any direction from this Canadian company. And what is the VaticanBerry? Well, the VaticanBerry seems to be the same solution applied to Catholicism. Catholicism has its own system of patents and trademarks. As opposed to other religions you can´t call yourself a Catholic if the Vatican does not want you to. The Vatican owns the brand, or does it? China went for its own bishops. Welcome to the VaticanBerry.

Edward, I’m agree with you except for said that the faith of Martin it affect to his comment.
I thing that for the side of Martin it exists a big absence of knowdolege of the cristhian churchs, but doesn’t have nothing to see with his faith.
When you speack about catholicism, you use to speack about Roman catholic church, as Edward said, but is not the only catholic church that exists.
We don’t need to come back to the Niceas concilium or to the big cisma of XII century that creates the orthodox church, to see that the Roman Catholic church figthed against the control of the faith by the side of the goverments.
That Happen in China is that they reply exactly the roman catholic church, but putting in the top the comunist party instead of the roman pope, and they are using that for control near 6millions of chinesse people. And in the other side you have more than 10 millions of Chineses who should practice his faith hidden and scared of the consequences…
But I insist you have other many catholic churches, that are independent from the vatican, and have relations with them, but they aren’t a manipulation of the faith to give the control to a lider

Why are you offending against the Catholic Church, just because your faith is lacking?. It is notable that you ignore the true root of such a matter. The Roman Catholic has do the right by excommunicating that couple of false bishops appointed by the Communistic Chinese dicatorship to restrain even more the Catholic Church and their believers. The Catholic Church accepts all, but does not tolerate others (mainly tyrants) making use of the Church as a controlling device to restrict religious freedom and religious communities lives.
