Fiesta Fonera!

Today, Tuesday, June 12th the Fiesta Fonera starts. Here are three reasons to party.
First, the La Fontennas are available at our shop. They only cost 2 dollars/euros for good Foneros and 19.95 dollars/euros for everyone else and they boost the range of your La Fonera by 5 times. They are so good that some are already calling them Fonagras….
Second, FON is launching WiFiAds, our ad supported WiFi platform with a 5 cent revenue share per ad shown available to all Foneros. Yes, I know trolls, we copied this one from Google but then so what? They are our investors!
Third, all Foneros will be able to both roam and make money with their La Foneras. Yes, sorry Linuses in order to get this privilege you have to call yourself a Bill, but don´t worry, we won´t tell anybody.

And BTW, is there any advantage now being a Linus over being a Bill? Because I don’t see any. In fact, Bills seem to be able to now do everything Linuses do, but moreover, they can earn money, so what would be the point on maintaining the Linus user type anyway?

Hola Martin
I got the e-mail with the code to get La Fontenna for €2 but having problems to purchase it, when I go to the shop I get the error below, sometimes as soon as I enter the shop others when I add it to the basket, checkout, etc.
Tried with 2 PC and IE and Firefox with the same problem, been trying for over 1 hour.

Dear all,
We have sent emails to all those Foneros out there who are sharing their WiFi (those who have their La Fonera plugged in and online), offering them a La Fontenna for $/€ 2. If you are sharing your WiFi and have not received the email, please be a bit patient. We have been sending out thousands of emails, and there may be some delays.

Elliot, I will have a Fon person contact you to try to understand. But we do know that we have this problem, the problem of the ghost fonspots, and we are trying to understand exactly why.

If you are, you will get an e mail. A good fonero is one who has left his/her fonera on for a certain amount of time. I don´t remember now how long.

Exactly, it is much better to be a Bill now. But still some people don´t care about money, and they can still be Linus. Many people could make money with AdSense in their blogs. And they don´t.

Martin,
The WiFiAds is a great thing, but I suggest to change the verification method for aliens to use the 15 min free internet p/d. It is quite easy to change a MAC address.
Furthermore who is legally responsible for the content download/upload by aliens? The FON member or the unknown alien?

Some people would love to be a Bill, but feel the contract with their ISP forbids reselling bandwidth.
Possibly giving it for free is no problem and they are happy to be a Linus.
Out of solidarity, FON(eros) could reward Linus’s some other way.

Some time ago in Malaga Fonero topic in comment you write that you will send mi the La Fontanna for free but that was the last message that I get from you. I’ m still waiting for information when you send me it 🙂

Foneros are protected on anything that happens over the Fon SSID. Foneros use MY PLACE to connect themselves and we have proof that it was not them who connected. We have no info of what they do over MYPLACE with a WPA key but we have all info of what goes on through the public channels and can share it if presented with a court order.
The Alien would be responsible for any activities he/she performs

it’s the first time I write to you and I want to make my congratulations toyou and to everybody who works with of for FON…
in these day I should study but I am spending a lot of time around fon blogs… 😀
I just wanted to ask you if you can remember of find somewhere the right time I had to get my Fonera online to have the mail to get the Fontenna for 2 euros…
I am sharing my dls connection since 1 month and maybe 1 or 2 weeks more, but I would be happy to increase my wifi signal because I live near a park…anyway I have no problems with connection in my house and my fonera is always on!!!
