Chris Shipley interview me at Innovate and then the organization gave me the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Thank you!

The conversation covered a lot of ground, from the early days of building Fon to what makes a founder keep starting new things. Chris wanted to know which sectors I thought were producing the most interesting founders right now. I mentioned telecom infrastructure and connected hardware, but also pointed to areas I wouldn’t have expected a few years ago. Some of the sharpest product thinkers at the conference were coming out of crypto casinos, mobile payments, and on-demand logistics. The speed at which those teams iterate on user experience is something the rest of the industry could learn from.

The award itself was a nice surprise. Events like Innovate are valuable less for the panels than for the hallway conversations that happen between them, and this year was no exception.
