Americans reward their kids into good behavior, Spaniards punish them, French ridicule them, British ignore them, Germans scare them, Chinese humiliate them, and Argentines, well you just have to go and see how Argentines just let kids do whatever they want 🙂

No veo por qué lo decís, Alejandro. Bromeó, poniendo en compartimentos estancos (estadounidenses, chinos, etc.) a 314+46+65+62+81+1.350+40 = 1.951 millones de personas sobre 7.000 millones. Apenas al 28% de la Humanidad. No, no generalizó mucho. Y además tampoco puso un emoticón para dejarlo en claro.

Wrameerez – it is not that we don’t want to have a laugh, it is just that we think that the stereotype is fundamentally wrong, at least with respect to Spain. Many foreigners – and I think I would partially group Varsavsky here – have a terrible misconception of what the Spain of the 21st century really is – amongst other things, an extremely progressive country in social issues.
Spain is not the cradle of “machismo” any more than the sophisticated (note irony) France or Germany, but rather quite less. Spain is not a country lacking in inmigration or diversity acceptance – certainly not worse than the Netherlands or Italy. And Spain is MOST DEFINITELY not a place where children are educated primarily through punishment. Historically that might have been the case (like in so many other western countries); but a clear reaction against Franco’s regime was a massive liberalization in education techniques. Any educator that has been long enough can confirm this.
Varsavsky is just promoting unfounded stereotypes – an action that he loves to criticize elsewhere.

Yo soy un resultado de la generacion del 68 muy liberal …
hasta que fui padre…que no sabia si castigar….premiar o lo que sea…
no queria ser tan severo como fueron los míos…pero que no se me vaya al carajo tampoco…

hay que remarcarselo bien desde chico….y padre y madre usen la misma vara
Me divorcie y en mi casa era una cosa en la de su madre otra…
Ya estaba grande y sin laburo…lo quise ayudar saliendole de garantía con mi casa para que ponga un restaurante…
Resultado…se fundio…se deprimio…..me arrastro al remolino a mi….
perdi mi casa…ahora alquilo…no me da mas bola…y esta colifa total…
yo me jodi la salud…tuve cancer y todo lo malo que puede tener un tio de 59 años
pero elevado a la enesima potencia…
por suerte ya paso…hice click y estoy saliendo….
