But <a href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/title\/tt2294677\/\">IMDB gives it a low rating<\/a>. This says something about Netflix&#8217;s success as a recommendation engine. I don&#8217;t care what others think about a movie. I want to know if I will like a movie or not. And Netflix nails it for me. I wish there was something like Netflix for restaurants. Like my palate is so different from the average Trip Advisor restaurant reviewer that I find the app useless. Indeed my palate is quite different from that of many of my friends also, and so are other tastes like music. I think friends are an indication of what you may like, but not always and recommendation engines that are purely friend base fail for that. \u00a0I find it interesting and useful that Netflix does not rely on my friends to give me recommendations. Non personalized recommendations work for people with average taste, they work when there is a lot of conformity. \u00a0But if you differ from the mean you need a personalized recommendation engine. And that is Netflix for me, now what Netflix does for movies and TV series I want for:<\/p>\n<p>People I can work with<\/p>\n<p>Novels<\/p>\n<p>Clothes<\/p>\n<p>Sailing destinations<\/p>\n<p>Art Galleries<\/p>\n<p>Mountain bike rides<\/p>\n<p>Restaurants<\/p>\n<p>Neighborhoods in a new city<\/p>\n<p>Museum exhibits<\/p>\n<p>Music<\/p>\n<p>Web sites<\/p>\n<p>Children activities<\/p>\n<p>Food stores<\/p>\n<p>Consumer products<\/p>\n<p>Conferences<\/p>\n<p>Online Youtube\/Vimeo type videos<\/p>\n<p>Concerts<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"mainphotoarea\"><\/div><div class=\"theme-buttons\"><div class=\"fb-like\" data-href=\"https:\/\/english.martinvarsavsky.net\/?p=8028\" data-send=\"false\" data-layout=\"box_count\" data-width=\"71\" data-show-faces=\"false\" data-font=\"arial\" data-locale=\"en_US\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Netflix said I would love In a World and I loved In a World.
