As you probably know, we have now begun shipping the Gramofon<\/a>. After the amazing support we received when it was introduced on Kickstarter<\/a>, we are now delivering the first units. Gramofon, as it is today, is a product for residential users who want to become Fon members, a product that improves their home\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0coverage and of course, allows them to listen to their favorite online music on their existing stereo.<\/p>\n

\"Free<\/a>Today the good news are that in\u00a0parallel\u00a0we have also been working on a new flavor of Fon\u00a0WiFi<\/span>, that we\u00a0are launching in Beta:\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0Business<\/span>.\u00a0It is a solution for small and medium\u00a0businesses<\/span>, whose owners want to give\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0to their guests in the best possible way. We want to get rid of places that say \u201cFree\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0here\u201d and then, when you want to get access, you need to ask for a complicated password written down somewhere on a piece of paper. And that is if you\u2019re lucky! If you\u2019re unlucky, they might not even remember the password. And others may just leave their personal\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0signal open, putting their security at risk.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0Business<\/span>\u00a0every store can offer\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0in a professional and secure way. It\u2019s a fully customizable solution in which the owner of the place can easily design the look and feel of the guests\u2019\u00a0WiFi\u00a0<\/span>experience and\u00a0decide how many minutes or hours guests are allowed to surf for free. They can also publish special offers on their\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0landing page or gain followers advertising their Facebook page. All in the merchant’s hands!<\/p>\n

Guests can easily log in with Facebook or with a Fon account, allowing merchants to understand visitor demographics and compare between different locations. Of course this information is shared only with explicit consent from the user.<\/p>\n

WiFi<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0Business<\/span>\u00a0is tailor-made for every\u00a0business<\/span>: bars, restaurants, dental offices, hairdressers, car repair shops, offices… every place where people come and wait!<\/p>\n

Starting today in Beta,\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0Business<\/span>\u00a0is available through the new Fonera for\u00a0Business<\/span>. This router can be purchased at our shop<\/a> at a special launch price. Soon, our telco partners will also distribute the solution to their\u00a0business<\/span>\u00a0subscribers the same way Fon is rolled out to residential subscribers: embedded into their existing\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0routers.<\/p>\n

I expect that the \u201cage of\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0passwords on a piece of paper\u201d is coming to an end, and I think that our\u00a0WiFi<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0Business<\/span>\u00a0will be a big part of this trend.<\/p>\n
