{"id":7013,"date":"2013-06-27T16:03:47","date_gmt":"2013-06-27T14:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.martinvarsavsky.net\/?p=7013"},"modified":"2013-06-27T17:19:09","modified_gmt":"2013-06-27T15:19:09","slug":"marco-boerries-completes-his-38m-series-a-funding-for-numberfour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.martinvarsavsky.net\/?p=7013","title":{"rendered":"Marco Boerries completes his $38m Series A funding for NumberFour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/english.martinvarsavsky.net\/files\/2013\/06\/numberfourag.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-7014\" alt=\"numberfourag\" src=\"https:\/\/english.martinvarsavsky.net\/files\/2013\/06\/numberfourag.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a>My friend <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Marco Boerries\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/person\/marco-boerries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"crunchbase\">Marco Boerries<\/a>, one of the participants of <a href=\"www.menorcatechtalk.com\">Founders Forum Menorca TechTalk<\/a> this weekend, has just shared with me the great news that he has recieved $38m in Series A financing for his project <a href=\"www.numberfour.eu\">NumberFour<\/a>\u00a0from some of the smartest investors in the world many of whom are also my investors in Fon. \u00a0This include\u00a0<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Index Ventures\" href=\"http:\/\/www.indexventures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Index Ventures<\/a>, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Allen &amp; Company\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Allen_%26_Company\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Allen&amp;Co<\/a> and T-Ventures among others. \u00a0The partner at Index who is in charge of the investment is <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Mike Volpi\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/person\/mike-volpi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"crunchbase\">Mike Volpi<\/a>, one of the only VCs I know who combines tremendous corporate experience from his decade at Cisco with investment acumen. $38m for a Series A round of a product that is not yet out is very impressive and shows the trust that Marco has generated among his investors.<\/p>\n<p>The idea behind NumberFour can be summarize as a software package that levels the playing field between the \u00a0the little guy (SMEs) and the big corporations. \u00a0A\u00a0platform that provides productivity, communication, sales, production, procurement, delivery, reservation and financial tools for offline and online SMEs. \u00a0With lots of big companies\u00a0participating in a large number of sectors, being competitive and successful is increasingly more difficult for small businesses. The goal of NumberFour is to put them on equal footing with large enterprises by building a business platform paired with a collection of apps that run on smartphones, tablets and personal computers. While a lot of companies have tried to crack this field, Marco Boerries background as the founder of Star Office sold to Sun Microsystems a decade ago makes him uniquely qualified to come up with a winning product. \u00a0The company is called NumberFour because it is Marco&#8217;s fourth start up.
