Why not use the methods of Yahoo Launch for Yahoo News?
I was looking at how Yahoo Launch (music) works and thinking that it would be ideal to have the same slogan, the radio station that listens to you, to news reading, the news channel that listens to you. I would appreciate if Yahoo could see which news I click on and instead of giving me the Reuters vs the AP it would listen to me and start giving me a news layout that is derived from my choices.

Or, maybe, you could just put something like Gegarius (http://gregarius.net/) on your FON router and tell it what you want. Then, everywhere you are, just follow the waves and ask your router for the news you want.

Nice idea, Martin.
Besides, I would add a “my del.icio.us tags” interaction. I mean, Yahoo could check my tags in order to know which are my interests. (Though I’m afraid that people use del.icio.us rather for blog posts than for news posts).

I think that Google could also do that. They have Google News and Google Personalized Search (beta), so they could combine both and the result could be what you ask for. And they don’t have the huge number of users of Yahoo News, which is probably a problem when doing such a change.
However, I’m not sure if I’d like it becasuse in time it could only show me the news in the fields that interest me the most. That could make me think that the world finishes there and I’d be blind to many things. I know this is an extreme situation, but I just wanted to show the risk.

Personally I have a dual life. My legacy internet life that includes an Internet Explorer and Yahoo and my new Internet life that includes Firefox and Nevibes as the home page.
