		<description>Hi Martin, I agree that the journalist&#039;s argument is flawed, but comparing percentages is not entirely accurate either: Especially in the US, today many people are no longer counted as unemployed because they have part-time work (even when they want full-time work).

According to economist Robert Reich, the typical workweek in the US has dropped to 33.5 hours - that&#039;s worse than France! :)

In comparing unemployment rates between periods, it&#039;s probably more accurate to compare level of employment (in hours) rather than unemployment.
