FONspots on Sony Style’s PetaMap Service

PlayStation PortableImage via WikipediaFON Japan recently announced it will provide wireless LAN access point information to Sony Style’s PetaMap, which provides social mapping services to Internet connected devices including PSPs, PCs and navigation devices, based on data provided by users and partners. This is a really useful feature that will let FON Japan users search for FON Spots on the go, even without Internet access.

This collaboration allows Sony users to find FON Spots near any point of interest. This service also allows users to find the nearest FON Spot without Internet access, by downloading PetaMap information to their PSP in advance, and using a mapping software.

  1. it would be exciting if they would also add the fonspots to Explore2Go for the European PSP’s it currently has more than 1.5million poi’s….and the owner can add more… perhaps maps.fon.com could export to these PSP owners as well?

  2. Great News!!! I wonder why Japanese companies don’t bring all the hi tech they have there -TV for PSPs, for example- to Europe…
