Hi. Are you talking about the BlackBerry Minutes & Mail http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/cell-phone-plans-detail.aspx?tp=tb1&rateplan=BlackBerry-Minutes-and-Mail for 59.99/month?
I will travel to the US next week and will extensively need the BB Email function.
How does the roaming via WIFI work? Don't get this part. Just got my new T-Mobile phone, BB 9000 with WIFI in Germany. It does not have a simlock which means I could use this one in the US by just swapping the sim-card.
On the same token, if I use my plan from Germany, it should work the other way round too with wifi, or?
Would need some further input if possible to make me understand how this works.
Do I need a special software on my BB9000 in order to make/receive calls via wifi?

Thanks, Ralph

Blackberry rule !
Guys if You want to optimize Your phone systems, I strongly advice you to try a new system called GoHello, it is custom made for small-medium companies. Iam pretty sure the try out is for free :

Philipp,

I only refer to email traffic. With my Vodafone BB I paid 153 euros just getting email in the States for a few weeks last month.

Martin,

sorry, I don´t get it. What do you mean with

"...you can go to the US, buy this BlackBerry with WiFi and when you’re back in Europe you keep paying 40 euros per month (60 dollars) for the Blackberry service and voice minutes and you don’t pay for roaming. This of course is a great deal for those who travel a lot."

Do you only refer to the BB-service (Edge-traffic) or do you also include voice minutes in your reasoning as stated? How would this work w/o roaming fees since you are on the network of any other provider?

How can we connect it to fonspots?
is there a fon-connector available?
there are no t-mobile spots in Belgium I believe
and using "open" hotspots is violation of the law and good for 5 years of prison

Hi Martin, it's actually even a little better than you describe: when you dial US numbers over Wifi, T-Mobile will not charge you any minutes on your plan. The same is true if you answer an incoming call on WiFi. T-Mobile is definitely the most innovative US carrier. I read somewhere that they ended up being upset how the AT&T/Starbucks deal turned out, so they may be (finally) ready for a FON partnership. Good luck!
