You can already buy it in our online shop. La Fonera+ is the latest edition of the router developed by FON and designed especially for Foneros. La Fonera+ has two ports, making it much easier to install and gives you the chance to connect wired devices to it and comes with an even easier configuration, totally intuitive.

  5. I’m a Bit surprise , La fonera+ is even more expensive than a Stock Buffalo in the store near you. Why would people buy a locked in wifi router when they can get a cheaper one with no lock ?

But I understand than people will get invitations for 50 %rebates ..

I’m really waiting for the fonera USB , that will really change citizen networks .

  12. You might be interested to know that Fon got an honourable mention in the latest issue (2nd Feb 2008) of New Scientist in the article titled “Wi-Fi ‘co-op’ could provide internet for all” on their website but titled “Now it’s safe to let Wi-Fi out to play” in the print issue.

It’s what set me looking for the Fon site which led to a map of local ‘co-op’ members.

Ultimately, after a long search and many detours, I ended up here.

I’m very seriously interested in this product considering that the article mentions that the software is Open-Source which to me means that there will be more “hackers” tightening it up than cracking it.
