Bernard,

If you are not a donor you pay, but you pay only $3 the first day and $2 thereafter and this is to have access to all fonspots for 24 hours.

"roam the world for free but only if you are first a broadband customer. FON is free sharing among those who have already paid for their broadband. If you are not a broadband customer, FON is the most affordable WiFi in the States at $3 per first day and $2 for any additional days. But it's not free."

So the Fonero who is NOT the subscriber of the broadband company, still free?

If someone were to have asked me what would it take to get TWC (or any other U.S. cable provider) to join Fon I would have responded: "incriminating photos involving farm animals!"

Congratulations, Martin and Fon! That is a HUGE breakthrough!

Does that means that Optimum subscribers can also use FON? If that is the case, where do I get my Fonera, do you have a rep. here in New York?

Felicidades en este logro.

Congratulations, Martin and FON! Getting the big ISPs to change their Terms of Service and allow services like FON to be viewed as something other than a 'leech' was one of the biggest barriers that we had way back when pursuing the original vision of Sputnik. It's great to see Time Warner making such a big step, and it paves the way for all sorts of bundling offers and additional services. Kudos!!!

Where is the beef?

The partnership specifically allows Time Warner Cable subscribers to become FON community members and create FON access points via their home or business broadband connection. Furthermore, the same subscribers would enjoy free WiFi access around the world, wherever FON has partner ISPs.

Now Time Warner Cable subscribers can become Foneros - like every user with broadband access.
